As you're working on puzzles or analyzing your last game, you may find it helpful to record a board position. And for that it will help to have a shorthand so you can write positions down quickly. Here's a method that is much, much easier than sketching the whole board.
Use these simple marks to represent light circles, dark circles, light squares, and dark squares.
To represent a light, round tower, draw a circle around the symbol for the tile it rests on.
To represent a dark, square tower, draw a square around the symbol for the tile it rests on.
